Today I received a notice from FedEx saying they have picked up my package from B&H. Considering that the Jewish New Year starts tomorrow I am very impressed. You really can’t beat B&H!!

Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the P1000 after you get use to it.

As soon as you receive your P1000, how about taking some pictures and posting them, anxious to see what they look like.

And all your neighbors' wives will be put on notice that starting tomorrow, they should keep their shades down at all times

Well, we can't have it bothe way - at least for this time.

The small sensor allows awesome superzooms, while larger sensor would make a camera huge.
There is so called a "1" sensor group of cameras, but their zooms go only to about 600mm.
The pay-off is, that they are, as you mentioned, almost a DSLR size.

BTW: Imagine a FF zoom going to 1200mm, the weight, size and cost?
Another question is, what is the maximum zoom extension which is still useful?
I am thinking about the mist, warm air reflections and other atmospheric problems.
