Kon Tiki, Sounds like a caribbean cocktail. It is a raft that has become Norway folklore. If you read the book you get the back story of the characters involved. Letâs just say they had a lot of luck crossing the Pacific Ocean.

i read the book in 1954.....fascinating!
I read it too. Probably early 60s.
I did too, late 60's or early 70's. Is the photo from Norway?
Is that Thor Heyerdahl's one or just a mockup?

I'm not sure luck played a big part, as much as testing a theory did.
There were several voyages I learned about when I visited that museum in Oslo, a couple of years ago.
Kon Tiki proved east to west sailing was possible. The voyage of the reed boat in the Middle East region was another voyage of amazing discovery. Roald Dahl was heavily involved, I recall, but I need to swat up to refresh my memory.
The Norwegians were great seamen, exploring many far flung parts of the world.
The Viking museum in Oslo is a fantastic record of their history. Lucky??? More good management.
