I have to see this as an abstract. I get no sense of reflected moonlight although I identify water reflecting light. The colors make me think of Chagall without his reds or oranges. I agree with Carol about the bug.

Hi Linda, I see this on canvas with some kind of clear gel applied to give brush stroke texture. I love the concept.
Ooooh, cool. Thanks!

Experiment with the fly on top and fern toward bottom. I like the brownish streak going horizontal. Makes abstract easier on the eyes. Sorry but I find the color harsh. That is just me and some would prefer the boldness of color. You know I feel that we all have different taste and that is wonderfully ok.
Some terrific suggestions to try, thank you for your interest, Sandy! And of course it's wonderfully OK to have different tastes

These kinds of creations are mostly thumbs-up/thumbs down, I know, but if you have any particular like/dislike, or feedback relative to the story I've suggested by my title, I'm all ears! Many thanks for your time.

Linda would you accept a sideways thumb. I think I prefer it without the large fly. I downloaded your shot and cloned him out. For me personally I like it better that way. Because of his size he seemed too big for the shot. Without the bug the reflection is the main focus of the image. I am now not bouncing back and forth between the reflection and the fly. BTW I am partial to blue so that is a plus.

We rotate images, why not thumbs I am beginning to understand the ambiguity of this piece. I'm going to try the horizontal rotation CSand suggested + either adding more insects (or another subject) vs. making strictly abstract. Thanks for your comments, Frank!

The whole thing works very nicely for me Linda. I particularly like the ‘contrasty’ look, the colours and the concept. Only thing I’d do with it is print it!

Maybe if you turn photo also lightly "liquify" downward in moonlit water to create movement and bring up moonlight in just that section that moonlight falls. Can't wait to see what you do.

Linda, I really like this. I do like the colors and the brightness. The big bug is good, I just think the wings are too bright for it's body. It's like you see the wings immediately but have to look for the rest of him. Fixing the bug or adding a different one may help. I think the bold colors of this would look great on metal. Those colors would really stand out.

Thank you, Sandy. I promise to try some of the suggestions and do a few more explorations on Monday

I love reflections, and this is a beautiful abstract, Linda. The colors and texture of the water remind me of stained glass.
