Folks -
If you want to read a high quality in print magazine, try Lenswork. It is first rate photography, good intelligent interviews, and some opinion pieces. It also comes in a digital version. It used to be black and white only, but recently has added some color work. Search it on Google and take a look at the site. The quality of printing is high and has remained so for many years.

Newspapers and magazines were only successful in the past when 8/10 ths of the paper was printed with paid advertising. I recall once when making a service call upon a newspaper seeing two people taking apart a competitive newspaper in the same town to measure the ad to news content ratio. Upon inquiry I was told they did that for every issue and compared them with their own ratio for a daily report to the owners.

Lenswork is a British publication and a sample copy will cost you $10.00. I got one and it is definitely not for the general photographer!

My subscription is soon due for renewal and don’t want to get stuck with another digital version. In recent months the mag has thinned to the point it should be referred to as a pamphlet. Several months ago I lost part of a subscription to Shutterbug with no notice of the change or offer of digital service. I am fully aware of the trend to soft copy only, but I have never liked reading magazines or books in soft copy. Yes, I know, I am a dinosaur.

I get Outdoor Photographer as well. Had Shutterbug and Pop Photo pulled out from under me too. I like a magazine to take with me as I go places. I would rather have a paper Mag to look through. I guess i'm a dinosaur too.
