The top pic shows "orbs" that I had to remove, albeit amateurishly. The bottom pic shows the results. This has never happened before and I'm curious as to why. Thanks for any input.

It is lens flare. Looks like you used flash so something reflecting?

If you bring up the background you can see that this flower was in the midst of a bunch of plants and the out of focus close one show up in the OP's shot.
Nice shot by the way.

I think the bokeh added a little pop of life to the photo. I would not remove it either, but that is just me. Agree that many others pay to learn how to do that, or buy software that does that. Thanks for posting your lovely photo.

Those are just highlights of something in the background and they are outside the DOF, so rendered out of focus. I'm very surprised, that this is your first time noticing that!
