Received my new Sony a7 III two days ago and today I received the standard 24-105 G lens made by Sony. So I started putting the new camera/lens through the paces. Decided to check out the high ISO capabilities first. So .... I shot this picture in the garden of a tiny little bee, yes the real tiny ones. 1/5000, F/13, ISO-12800, jpeg, yes jpeg. The large one is the way I shot it @105mm about 18 inches away. The second is the crop from the first picture. Absolutely no post work other than the crop, yup, no noise reduction in post. I'm very pleased and when doing weddings I won't give a second thought using high ISO ..... well maybe not over 6400 for now, a bit of noise reduction in RAW and maybe 25,600.

Another crazy test ....
1/1600, f/9, ISO-12,800, +1/3 EC, jpeg
No post edit other than crop .... look at the detail at that incredibly high ISO. This is a game changer for me. Not only what I cab shoot but how I can shoot it.

Does that mean you may be increasing those low shutter speeds in favor of higher ISOs? I jest, but actually you see more motion blur on high resolution sensors like the Sony and typically have to compensate with faster shutter speeds unless you are on a tripod. Congrats on the camera! You will love the results. I have the Nikon D850 with massive resolution and low light capability and am getting similar results. The sensor is made by Sony so probably very similar results.

Yes the 850 and a7 III will give similar results other than the 850 has higher resolution but most wedding photogs are just fine with 24mp.
Dynamic range and high ISO results are very similar. But ...... the a 7 III is under $2000 :)
