I was introduced to "unbirds" last year, and downloaded quite a few brushes (for PS Elements, which is compatible with PS for brushes) free from brusheezy.com

The raven in #1 is just a one-click of a brush, like using as a stamp.

The cedar waxwing on branch in #2 is one I made myself using super-easy instructions provided by Dixiegirl. I was going to just show it as a stamp on white, but I got carried away See #3 and #4 for instructions.

I'd love to see examples of your favorite brushes used either as graphical elements or as part of a technique with painting, in adjusting backgrounds, and anything else.

Thanks!

This sounds fun and right up my alley for creating and just playing around. Thank you, Linda. I'll post if I figure this out.

Super! My problem the past three years is that everything sounds fun, so I just keep flitting from one idea to another

I see you've been busy with your brushes, and your examples are beautiful, Linda! I've made about six brushes but have used nary a one yet.

That is really cool, Linda. I have Elements 15. I only use it occasionally but trying this seems like a very appropriate occasion!

Oh no, don't make me go to You-Tube for inspiration, Donna

Are yours of recognizable objects, like birds and butterflies? I'd like to hear from someone who has made their own specialty brush like are in PSE (and I assume PS) already - like the wet and dry media. But I've only tried those once or twice, so don't know why I think I need to make one, lol.

Here is another. All the black is the "brush" and there is just a texture layer behind.

By Monday I'll probably be onto something else, but today am having a good time! Thanks for your interest, Carol. If you make one, please post!

I've tried only Canada geese so far, Linda, but it was so easy I'm sure I'll try others. Love the detail you've added to yours.

I just looked at a link I had saved specific to making brushes for PSE. Thank goodness you sent me the info about starting with your own photo and then applying a "threshold" layer. The one for PSE was about using clip art and other silly graphics

It's rare that i do use brushes , however here is one example. The backdrop is created from brushes purchased from Digital Artist Zone (DAZ)

This is remarkable, Linda!! I love it! I had no idea about this brush thing ! And flitting is what I tend to do a lot of!
