I am looking to purchase an L bracket to use with my Nikon D750 with battery grip, it must be compatible with my Manfrotto tripod, with a RC2 plate. Recommendations/suggestions please.

Really Right Stuff or Kirk, although, they're both Arca-Swiss which may be a Manfrotto problem? If your L plate options are all arca-swiss, you might need to look at replacing the clamp on the tripod.

I will only say that if your using the L bracket on the 750 with the battery grip your asking for a awkward situation if your going to shoot vertical. I have found using just the battery grip with the camera is much more comfortable than adding an L bracket to the equation.

I use it on my D610 with a battery grip and there are no issues.

I see you are an old photographer. Nowadays there are accessories for everything and most at a high cost. Back when I started money was scarce and not many add on were available and so we had to make what we needed ourselves to do our job. I also like your head support.

I'm not trying to be critical but it looks like there's nothing that prevents the camera from rotating when in portrait orientation. The camera looks like it can still pivot around the D-ring screw.

Sure it can - like most other connections - IF - you do not tighten it - and NOT with your fingers - with a tool !

I remembered someone in my camera club who would tighten the screw a lot in order to keep the camera from rotating. She was using a Manfrotto plate that had a video pin sticking up that prevented the camera resting flat on the plate. She almost completely stripped the threads out of the tripod socket.
