I believe it's been going on long before Trump. Perhaps it's the "IDtenT" syndrome.

I agree that it is a combination of curmudgeon-ness & anonymity in general. In many particular cases it is also politics. I was going to add more about the politics thing, but then thought ... no. Better not go there.

THIS IS SOOO TRUE!!!! And some people are thin skinned too. I have stopped analyzing photos for just that reason. Don't dare say anything negative....just positive.

I believe it is a combination of two things.

1. the anonymity, of course -- it gives a person the ability to speak without much thought behind the words (well, more than usual).

2. The written word is so easily misunderstood. I have posted many things over the years that were taken the exact opposite of what I meant... and there have been times when trying to correct things just made it worse. The sound of a voice and facial expressions are so important in human communication.

Yes every picture is just wonderful, you will never hear the truth about your picture so why bother.

Some people are alone in life with no one to converse, so they inject inflammatory matter into a post just to get a reaction, then the back in forth argument makes them feel important.
That's the only thing that I can figure!

Yeah, they ain't getting enough sex.

Thank you, Jerry. I don’t post often here, but would like to. And it makes no sense that we play “follow the perceived leaders.” BE a leader in civil discourse and decency.

Jerry asked a question. He is a very thoughtful man.
Kids TV shows are argumentive. We have videos games that are horrendous. Movies are stacked with serial killers
and dark subjects. Drivers have no patience. People are blank faced in their smart phones. We have a government destroying our institutions. Time had a sound bite online a lady said Congress was celebrating taking away medical benefits. I have a friend here in FL that I meet and he greets me with “Here’s that guy who voted for Obama.”
I don’t tell anyone who I voted for. I think the nasty was always here but now is becoming an everyday monster.
4000 lies by our leader. Does anyone care. I grew up learning from my father who took me to museums etc.
Education has fallen apart. That is a big part of thr problem. Saying good morning. Being polite. Reading.
Helping people. I have helped a number of charities.
History is the answer. We can become a country and western world that is in jeopardy.

I see two causes. One is the thought that some comments are from trollers and so we get snarky feedback. The other is the potential for bullies and passive/aggressives to practice their craft behind the fog of the Internet.

This really isn't about "politics", but I do agree with many of these comments.
I work with the public, and I have seen a provable, increasingly nasty attitude from people the past 2 years. Coincidence?
And then about this site, I am a fairly new member here. After only reading posts for a few weeks, I joined, and after a month or so, I posted a few items for sale.
One member here then proceeded to launch into me with snarky, nasty comments accusing me of being here to sell stuff.
Really?? This then became a string of back and forth posts that grew somewhat heated. What gives with some people?
Photography is supposed to be fun, and not a source of grumpiness.

I think part of the problem is the "attic". Folks that go there taker nasty to a higher level. The when they get in the photography section they keep up abusing folks. - Dave

If you watch tv, on Facebook, or Twitter you will find the answer. Tv's most popular shows are the reality shows. Judge Judy, Dr Phil as well as other shows, our President and some other politicians. Society is a reflection of our culture by our leaders. It seems that peaceful, respectful. thoughtful, and tolerance do not sell or attract attention. We have very few leaders that step forward and set and example. We just lost one man who did but was critiquized by his own party at times for not towing the party line. I get annoyed by folks in general for not use the tools and information available but to take the lazy way out. If researched and look up info you will probably learn some other facts as well. How many folks by a high priced tool and fail to learn to use it to maximum capabilities. As my grand father use to say just human nature.

I never let what was on TV or who was in the White House influence my behavior, I believe it's more on how people are raised as to how they behave.

Jerry....Actually, I think UHH is tamer now than ever. However, I realize that some people are overly sensitive. Usually we give the rude posters a hard time. I notice one in particular is no longer with us. However, to those who take exception to moronic posts I have but one piece of advice....ignore the bastards.
