Is there any validity to a site which allows you to name your own price for a camera, lens, or flash unit?

Or, are you going to wind up paying the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, anyway?

Give it a try. I've bought items (not photographic) online where there was a price and "Make an Offer." They either accept the offer or they make a counteroffer.

I did, Jerry ... and when I went to fill out the Info form, it dropped out. Each time it did so, I raised the offer - the last was very near their price, but still a little under ... and it STILL dropped out ... finally, just gave up!!!!

When it comes to photography equipment, these sites typically only offer older products and not the latest models, so "Suggested Retail Price" doesn't really apply.

Actually, Rook - the one to which I was referring, here - did have the latest models, including the Nikon D7500, and the Canon EOS 77D ...

I'll take another look, at the end of the week, and see if they have the Canon EOS 90D ...

But, you may be right ... some of these places are selling old stock ... one even had a brand new D90!!!!!

According to THIS site ... all models are brand new, with a year's factory warranty, to boot ...

But the premise is wrong, as the promise was made - to name your own price ... but, it's not really that simple ... they're only interested in your offer if it's at, or near - the lowest on-line selling price - according to them ... apparently, they're NOT including 42nd St. or Abe's of Maine ....

Sometimes, giving up is the smart thing to do.

Yes, I think so, Jerry ... it's all very time-consuming and frustrating ...

When I'm ready - I'll just pick up the phone, and call Adorama or B&H ... tell 'em what I want, and it's here, the next day ... can't beat that - can you?

It might be a kind of Dutch auction. Or a kind of silent bidding thing.
There's a set number of these, there's a set but undisclosed floor price, and the highest bidders win.

Seems you are back to your endless board flooding Chris. Wish you would have learned from last time. Evidently not. Please stop before it's too late!

I'll reiterate, "Please put me on your ignore list."

Too late for what, Haydon? … And why are you commenting on a Topic posted six months, ago?

What do you mean by - flooding? … Not sure I follow you.

In case you're not aware of it, btw - putting people on ignore lists - does not keep them from seeing or commenting on Topic Posts, anymore. All that has changed. All it does, now, is keep them from PM'ing.
