I took these pictures around the Charleston Harbor yesterday. You have been so helpful to me in the past in guidance for my photography attempts, that I am asking for any criticism and guidance you may have on getting better bird pictures, primarily relating to the settings on my camera. These were all taken with my Canon 7D II and my 400mm 4.5 L lens and a monopod. My camera was set to P mode, one shot, auto ISO. All pictures are SOOC. Lens set to 3 M to infinity. Thanks so much for your help.

Very nice Barry. When I first started on the hog in 2011, I was new to photography and the new Digital Cameras. One of the better photographers back then was Swamp Gator, from SC. He told me the only way I will learn, is to shoot in M mode, and practice, practice, practice. It was the best advice I got as a budding photographer. Good luck and most importantly, have fun

Nice series birdman12...the last is absolutely adorable!
Very good Barry, I like the last picture best.
Thanks for your replies and help. Yes, I think that the P mode is not the best for bird pictures and will try the M mode. With regard to the little girl in the boat, I actually got three pictures of her that were good. It was a cute situation of a tiny girl driving a big boat down Shem Creek who could not even see over the console. Unfortunately, I had my prime 400 mm lens on and could not zoom out.

Good shots, Barry! Love the last one!
