I only use Epson printer. Their color technology is the best on the market. They offer superior color printing at great pricing. You simply can't go wrong with Epson. The Epson R1900 is a far superior printer. That prints up to 13 inches by 44,inches long

While these are excellent printers, they can not print 17 inches wide. A quick check at the Canon website reveals two printers, the pro-1000 (17 inches, $1099 after rebate) and the PROGRAF iPF670E (24 inches, $895). The remaining Canon printers either don't print 17 inches wide or cost $3695 up.

I have the Canon Pro-1000 and it's a great printer that will do the job for you. It's got large ink cartridges that last a long time. The print head won't get clogged up because of the way the head parks when finished printing. It comes with software that will allow you to track the cost of each print job so that you can see if you are making a profit. Uses pigment ink instead of dye ink. It's wireless and was way easier to setup than the Pro-100. There is a rebate that brings cost of printer down. Very wide format. Canon has a plugin that makes printer easy and also makes it easy to use icc profiles of just about any paper that you buy that has icc profiles or profiles that you can make with your calibration tools.

Lord! I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to an ad I received (and deleted) in my email the other day but it was for a product you feed through your printer that would clear up the fine debris left behind when using card stock. I will try to find that info for you. BTW P800 epson

Had a Canon several years ago and really was not happy with it. So I probably will stay away from Canon.

Which Canon did you have that was bad?

I had a Canon Pro which when it broke I was quoted 400$ for repair. I print very little now so I junked the printer and use on line services. They can print any size for me. If I need something 8x10 I usually use CVS, which does an OK job. Given the constant investment in ink I think I made the right choice for me.

A friend who is a commercial photographer has 3 canon printers and uses them a lot. Usually one is down for one reason or another so he has two backups.

I have not posted anything in quite a while, but keep looking at the postings of other Members. Have learned a lot from this Site. Now I could really use your help.

I am looking for a good Printer, that lets me print quality Photos on a variety of Card-Stock as well as Photo-Paper. I need a Printer that lets me print up to 17 inches wide and in a longer version. I had an Epson R1800 which was really a great Printer. After several years it gave up and I purchased the RM1900. That was not as good as the R 1800 but still did the job. Now I have to get a new one, but am not sure what Brand to buy.
I did like the Epson product, but there is no Service in the Austin, Tx area. The guy that did a great job servicing the Printer retired due to health reasons, and I have not found anyone that will Service an Epson Printer. So it is either buy another product, or ship the Printer to Dallas or San Antonio. Neither is desirable.

So my question -
what do you all use, and which one do you recommend. I print mainly Scrapbook Pages and Cards. as well as some large size Photos. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have not posted anything in quite a while, but k... (show quote)

The Canon Pro-100 prints up to 13" X 19". It's usually very inexpensive, considering what it is. Here it's listed at $500 with a $350 rebate.

That rebate doesn't seem to be universally available.

Probably would go with the R1900 again, but it is no longer available.

WOW! That is a great Price. Would not mind spending that, even if it is a Printer that doesn't last long. For that money I would give it a try. Where is the $350 Rebate coming from?

I would probably go Canon. But you had a bad experience, so for 17' wide, you could possibly try the Epson Sure Color P800 currently available at $895 (after a $300 rebate)
Max Resolution: 2880 x 1440 dpi
Max Print Size: 17 x 22" (Sheet Media)
Print Speed: 8 x 10" in 113 Seconds
Borderless Printing at up to 17" Wide

Love my Canon Pro 100. Easy to refill using Precision Colors ink. Used to have an Epson Artisan 837 which did very well up to 8.5 and 11. Replaced it with Epson WF-2750, the printer from hell.

The R1800 didn't do 17" wide either so I went on the theory that the 17" was gotten by printing in landscape mode. So the print would be 13" x 17". With back feeding the paper the Pro-100 will do 13x26 and the R1800 or its replacement would do 13 x 44 when using roll paper.
