A smoke filter is not something you can purchase at your local camera store. Folks living in the western states know the photographic effects of the smoky skies we have experienced in the past two years. These photos were taken form the East Bay hills looking west over the San Francisco Bay. The first shot of the sun setting over Mt Tamalpais was taken last Sept. during the Napa/Sonoma fires. The others were taken from the same POV in June of this year. They show the high smoke cloud moving in from the north as the fog rolls in to cover the bay. As the sun moved through the layers of smoke it changed the color of the fog and indeed the light itself! Beautiful, eerie and sad. Nothing was done in post processing to augment these colors.
