Unconventional

I often challenge conventional thinking. This was taken with on camera flash, TTL mode in my family room in front of the TV, which was off. Shot raw, converted to jpg in Capture One. I brightened it about one stop since I forgot the camera was set to -1 flash compensation and cropped out the edges. No further processing other than what the program does by default.

I don't see what is so objectionable with on camera flash. Sure there are ways to make it better but I think a lot of people would be perfectly happy with it.

What do you think?

Kind of harsh and flat - - - what one might expect from on camera flash. There are many good reasons for separating the flash from the camera unless there is no other options.

Better than the one on my driver's license. Won't win an award, but not bad at all.

Most camera flashes are just something you use when you have no separate flash. They usually don't have enough power outside for fill flash.
And flash dead center on the top of the camera are just OK. But not good pictures. Flash can be used creatively. I just got back into it after years of
not shooting with flash or strobe. I see flash being creative off the camera 1,2 or 3 units creating a look. Their are some books about flash one is using
one flash creatively from different angles off the camera wirelessly and using it manual not TTL. Your photo is OK but flat light. I am still growing into
high powered flashes. I do a lot of video so of LED panels for light. Good luck.

Whats your point, we all know the pros and cons of on-camera flash vs. off-camera flash!
