Have you registered copyright, under the new rules?

The copyright office recently change the rules and procedure for registering photos. The new rules making more burdensome and expensive to register photos. If anyone here has registered photos under the new rules I think a lot of us would appreciate some comments and any tips on the process.

Thank you.

You know, I hope, that the only benefit of registering copyright is it allows you to sue for damages. Otherwise, you automatically have copyright, and can sue for money made from someone else's use of your work.

The rules do not allow you to even sue, without registration.

Timely, repeat timely, registration is the key, because it allows you to obtain money. Without the impossible burden of showing how much you were harmed or how much the thief benefited.

As a copyright holder, you do not have the power to sue anyone to enforce that right until the work is federally registered. That said, a work can be registered at anytime, before or after infringement.

The (no author name given) article you link to is mostly correct, but marred by some errors and slovenliness.

The article you linked seems pretty good. Perhaps you could be less slovenly and correct the misinformation you sense.
