Both of my bodies always have a lens mounted but I keep a body cam in my go bag just in case it is needed.

For the vast majority of the time, I leave the lens on the camera. On rare occasions, I'll store just the body. Then, I'll use the body cap, but make sure it's dust free as possible before putting it on the camera.

I guess it depends on how much you intend to use the camera. If you’re going to store the body then the body cap makes sense so as to be able to use your lens with other bodies. If you are actively using the camera then changing to the body cap is a waste of time and one more opportunity for dust to enter your camera, and it makes it impossible to grab the camera for a quick random shot. So leave the lens on it in that case. You might get lucky and need the same lens for the next photo shoot, thus avoiding all the time spent removing the cap and mounting your lens of choice.

For storing, I generally leave the lens attached. However, for traveling I will often remove the lens and use a body cap for greater compactness, better space efficiency and to avoid possible strain on the mount.

When they are in their cases or in the cabinet the bodies are capped and the lenses are in a separate case.

If my cameras are "tucked away," they go lensless with a body cap. If I'm using them occasionally, they I leave the appropriate lens on them.

Interesting responses; I can see both points of view. Personally, I try to limit exposing my camera's innards as much as possible as I am always nervous about getting dirt, hair, dust, etc. inside so I always leave my lens on. On the other hand, I use the same lens 95% of the time so it makes sense leave it on. If I constantly changed lenses, my taking one off and replacing it with a cap for storage wouldn't be a big deal and I might do that instead.

My camera is stored next to my lazy boy. I leave a lens attached all of the time.

Good Reminder about making sure the dust cap is "clean."
