B&W or Color? (P.S. not recommended for purists)
both are amazing. i lean SLIGHTLY toward the BW.
I like both, but also like the B&W a little more.
Both are really good but, IMHO, your sky needs some work.

I agree, actually was thinking about crop it out since I don't how to work on it.
There's little in the image that requires color --i.e., its neither an image of a Red-Winged Blackbird, nor is it a sunrise with pinks and purples and yellows and oranges and reds-- so sure, its a fine candidate for B&W. That said, the tonal qualities of the bright, almost lime green lichens/leaves got a little lost in the conversion, and they'd have added texture and interest by being a Zone or so higher; getting them there would be pretty easy. If anything, the toneless, featureless sky in the B&W version (and only slightly less so in the color version, though there is a vague suggestion of 'featureless sky' as a result of the pale, diminishing gradient left to right of ultramarine) works against --'pulls the eye,' so to speak-- and away from the whole. Again, there's any number of simple ways that could be remedied.
Nice image. No, actually a really nice image. I'd be equally happy with either one.
<edit after seeing your reply re: the sky> Please, no! Do NOT crop out the sky! You'd be left with something unbalanced!

No compelling color so B&W. Easy choice for me.

I like the bw more because of the more detailed appearance.
Color, only and always. There are only a very few of us who see in black and white, most of us see in GLORIOUS COLOR. If you don't think so just think of a sweeping landscape in black and white with the tiniest feature being bright red or yellow or green. Where does your eye go? And then that same sweeping landscape in color with the tiniest spec of black or white. You won't even see it.
Just think if Ansel Adams worked in color. (I know I'm going to get in trouble for that)

They are both great but I think I prefer the B&W version.
I prefer the black and white, there is something slightly "off" in the color version that, personally, don't like.
