I took a B&W photo class about 20 years ago and loved it, but after the class had no access to a darkroom and no digital camera so I moved on to other hobbies. I have been wanting to get involved in photography for a while now but have been stuck using camera phones of various qualities until recently. I am definitely a beginner and I’m using beginner equipment, but eager to learn and grow.
Currently, I’m working with a Nikon D3400 and an iPhone as my options and probably will be for a long time.
The first picture I attached is a diesel generator in my back yard. The other is a phone pic of Haiti just after sunrise.
Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you with us! No shame in using a cell phone camera, either. They work just fine, often use one myself, and it’s always with you to catch those shots you might otherwise miss.

Welcome to UHH. Some incredible photos are taken with phone cameras. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome. A D3400 may be an entry-level camera, but it will do anything you want it to. I started with a D3300 and loved it. Now my brother has it and he loves it.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
