1st attempt at night photography

I had the chance to go out last night to take pics of the stars...but the moon was so bright i knew that wasn't going to happen. This is at my horse pasture....took the horses about 15 to 20 minutes to finally leave me along and quite poking around...lol!
Nikon D500 with the Tamron 16-300. Set lens to manual focus and infinity, had it on tripod with 2 second delay to help with camera shake. Manual mode and played with changing the shutter, ap and iso. Had the focus mode in AF-C with D153 focus points. Spent about an hour playing but these are the best 4 and the one's I like best.
So since this was my first time trying this....I would really like some pointers on what I should have done and what I should do different next time.

On close inspection it appears that you may have missed focus on #4. Others can address whether the "infinity" setting was the culprit, or perhaps there was a breeze and it's motion I'm seeing? But I love the exposure of both #3 and #4. Terrific location for the moon's reflection.

I would advise you to use a Tripod and longer exposures. You have some interesting exposures, and you are on the right road.

By the time I took the 4th photo...it was breezy...but it could be me as well...more than likely it's me that missed the focus...lol. I am not sure how to set focus when it's dark like that.

Thanks! at least I am on the right track...I will be able to go back out this weekend and will be able to stay later.
What exposure would you have used?
I was using a tripod...just not for the 1st picture....the rest were with the tripod you see in the first photo...but it was a little breezy when I took the 4th photo.

Linda, to my eyes focus is fine but the image has not been sharpened enough.
The gentleman posting these images is doing very well with his first attempt to night photography.

Thanks Camerapapi!!! I am learning Photoshop CS4...I read up on sharpening and did a little bit on the photo....Not sure if I did the sharpening right -- opened in photoshop > converted to smart image > filter > smart sharpen and increased the sharpening by 40%.
better or worse? or would you have sharpened the image a different way?
