I also like all three, the first being my favorite but I wonder if it’s gonna get judged as too dark. I agree that it looks just a tough off level.

#1's background is too dark with shadows that are crying out to be opened up. I wold suggest a graduated filter from the top of the frame to just at the vehicle's hood line. Play around with exposure, shadows and blacks to make the tonal scale in balance with the rest of the picture.

Ideally for a grayscale image, you want all the tones to be balanced.

I would think that in an editing competition there would be a before and after picture...the submissions are nice but don't they require something to compare to?

I just got the information on the competition so I am not sure yet if I need to present the originals. Competition is not until mid-August. Here are the originals:

Thanks Bruce. I'm going to make some adjustments on the car pic. Competition is in mid august. I ill let you know
