I use a hall coat closet floor as the storage place for my camera gear. I have three backpacks used depending on the length of travel and shoot location. My gear gets moved from pack to pack. I'd like to setup a storage system in the closet that provides a place for each piece of gear. I'll probably add some simple shelving. I'm wondering if others have some interesting or unique ways of storing their gear. Thanks in advance.

I use some conventional straight and open shelving and some pigeon hole type as well. One side has a medicine chest type for smaller items. If money was no object I'd love to have some bookcases with glass doors.

I have a shelved closet, a barristers bookcase (for cameras and lenses) and a shelving unit.
Everything’s a mess and I can never find what I need, I hope I learn something from this thread.

I have a small guest room closet with multiple shelves and space for the strange collection of camera cases I currently have.

I'd love to have closet shelves for my equipment!
Mine is stored in a side (camera) case and backpack in my closet, and one nightstand drawer.
Moved about as needed.

Large Igloo coolers for studio equipment. Camera gear gets a couple of dresser drawers and a Think Tank rolling case.

I keep my cameras and lenses locked in a metal bank teller's cabinet I got years ago. Batteries, cards, etc. I keep in drawers. I use Pelican rolling cases, one to store and carry my studio lighting gear along with all cables and accessories. The other for speedlights, modifiers, triggers, etc. In the closet I bought a few Plano sportsman's totes from Bass Pro Shops to hold the things I need for specific types of work. LED lighting and all the things I use for table top and food photography. I keep another bag with tools, straps and supplies I may need to fix or set up during shooting.

I use backpacks, shoulder bags or rolling bags and fill according to what I need for that shoot. Otherwise, everything is stored and ready to go.

I have a old large China cabinet with sliding glass doors I converted into a gear cabinet. I also have several equipment cases with foam rubber cutouts for specific bodies and lenses. They're about the size of a fat brief case and have reinforced corners. They stack quite nicely. One case holds my Nikon bodies and smaller lenses. Another case is designated to my larger Nikon lenses and others to Canon bodies and lenses and there's also a miscellaneous parts case a flash case and a case for batteries, chargers and cords. Everything is labeled and ready to go at any time.

Interesting topic. My crap is spread across three rooms! Maybe I need some structure?

I have a LOT of very expensive gear. Finally I bought the following on sale with $150.00 off the price from B&H. It keeps my equipment at a constant 44% humidity. Camera equipment should be stored between 40-50% humidity. Trust me, this cabinet is worth every penny. Their are several different sizes. Again, I waited until B&H put them on a big sale. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Storage of anything is a nuisance. Every day I receive an email from Family Handyman telling me how to store stuff. I have a long shelf in the bedroom with plastic see-through boxes for tripod parts, straps, filters, etc. Backpacks and bags are on the shelf in the closet. Camera bags with lenses and flash equipment are on the floor of the closet. Cameras are in dresser drawers. Tripods are in a corner. I have about eight tripods, and I'm thinking about buying another small MeFoto.

I went to the Salvation Army and purchased a great, real wood Armour for about $45.00 and put it in my office. It gives me enough room to put 95% of my camera gear. I went to Family Dollar, got plastic shoe boxes for $1.00 each and separated my cameras, and all other related items with a label on the front of contents. I also went to a couple of furniture stores that we have shopped in and the provided me with multiple sizes of SILICA GEL packs that I use in each box and put in the bags to help reduce moisture here in Florida.

I store my bags in a little used closet in the back of the house: empty so I can fill as the needs require. Hope this helps or give some new ideas.
