Bummer they closed it!

So I have been trying for a couple years to get down to Zion's NP with my older boys and hike Angels landing. We finally got our schedules together and we were planning on going the second weekend in September after the local schools have started and the crowds were thinner. But thanks to the storms the other day they had a lot of flooding and rock slides in Zion NP, they closed several trails and Angels Landing status is closed indefinitely. I am sure they will look into ways to fix the trail and open it but from the pictures I have seen it may be a year or two. Just missed it by a few weeks :)

Be thankful you missed it while the storms were going on!

One thing for sure, it took nature a long time with these storms to create the canyon and because of the storms and weather it will always be changing.

I go to Washington D.C. each year with advocates from around the country to request that funds for dystonia research be included in the following year’s budgets. I lead two dystonia support groups, one in New Jersey and one in Philadelphia, because my daughter Joanna suffers with that disease. This year, I arranged a tour of the NIH (National Institutes of Health) for my wife and me on the day after our meetings on Capitol Hill. I received an email from the NIH, the day before the tour was scheduled to take place, canceling it because a forecast snowstorm would probably close the Federal government the next day. It did snow and government buildings were closed. I’ll try again next year.

I wouldn’t worry based on one image. They can clear something like that in a few days.

You probably know this but the Angels Landing trail is not for the faint of heart or the slightest weak of lung capacity. For photograpy the trail just above the tunnel is almost as good and much easier.
