I came across this tree in Phuket recently. The flower caught my eye, but also the way it appeared.
Seemingly it sprouts from the lower trunk, extends out on a shaft, then blooms in bunches.
Can anyone tell me its name or any info about it. It was quite a big tree in the surrounds of a yachting marina.

I think it could be a Couroupita guianensis commonly called a cannonball tree. I'm not 100% sure but the flower looks about right. Other than that I have no clue.

I would agree. There is some interesting info online that explains how they got from Brazil to Southeast Asia.

Most certainly a cannon ball tree. We have a beautiful example growing here in Miami at Fairchild Tropical Garden.
