I ran out of places to search, but I'll bet I missed something.
On Nikon's list of authorized dealers they show 'Nikon Professional Dealers' and 'Nikon Imaging Dealers'.
Does anyone here "know" the differences? I have found a few guesses, all different.
It was too late to call Nikon but will try tomorrow unless I get an answer tonight.

Thanks very much Gene. I searched the Nikon site, but obviously didn't have the right search terms.
Now I know for sure that a trip to the only camera store in Delaware would have been a waste of time.

Thank you for calling Nikon Customer Support, it was a pleasure speaking with you. The difference between Nikon Professional Dealers and Nikon Imaging Dealers is that the professional dealers typically offer higher end equipment. Can you say what product you are interested in?
Please call or reply to this email if you have further questions. Refer to case #02560453.
Kind regards,
Judy

It's been my experience that regardless of type, local dealers may, or may not, have higher end items in stock. The Big Boys will! I'm lucky that I have a close enough dealer that has pretty much everything. That dealer is Allen's Camera in Levittown PA and I have no qualms about giving him a shout-out! Best of luck.
