After editing a photo in Lightroom CC I try to send it to myself in an email from my ipad; then open up the email on my windows laptop and transfer the image file to a memory card for later printing. But every time Lightroom exports the original rather than the edited file. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

when the format pop-up menu comes up in export, did you select jpeg or original? You need to select need to select jpeg.

TIFF, PSD, or PNG should also work, no? If you're going to be working further on the image, choose something other than JPEG.

Tim,
Andy is right. However, if you select Original you do not get any of your edits.

Anybody notice the OP, Tim Attwooll, says he is using Lightroom CC on an iPad for the export?

When the export dialogue comes up, go through the choices. You will discover that you can choose a different format.
The reason the edits need to be converted is because they are not stored as an actual photograph. They are actually a set of instructions for viewing those edits, attached to the original RAW image as an .xmp file. Only when the image has been converted to a different format, will it then be visible outside of LR!
It doesn't matter what format you choose as long as you still have your original edits either on the original or on a virtual copy. But if you want to re-set the original or delete the virtual copy, it is better to convert to .tiff [my choice] or .dng.

Are you using Lightroom CC (cloud) or Lightroom CC (mobile) on an iPad like the OP?

No, I am using LR Classic CC on a PC. Are the editing and exporting choices different on the mobile/cloud version?

Yes they are different. And the OP's question was not about Lightroom Classic or (cloud) Lightroom CC on a computer. It was about (mobile) Lightroom CC on an iPad. I have it on an Android tablet and could attempt an answer, but it is probably different on an iPad.

LR CC mobile is also cloud! Aren't they both on the same LR program?

Both mobile and computer Lightroom CC use cloud/server storage. The primary look and feel are similar. The menus have different choices. For example, "share" on my Android tablet lists 24 choices from Google Drive to Mail and Snapchat. On my computer it will "share" to Facebook or a folder.
The OP is asking about "Exporting" from an iPad. Answering with how it works on a computer version of LR CC won't be the same.
On my Android tablet there is "share" icon with a link to my email. Next to it is a menu that includes "Export Original". If the OP's iPad works like my Android, you don't use Export, you use Share to Email.
The OP has only three posts total and not been back, so it probably doesn't matter.

Guess I'm behind the times! No ipad, no android tablet. Of course I have not felt the need for more than my smart phone and laptop to supplement my desktop...
