Court ruling may lead to limits on colleges theft of photos

Under doctrine known as "sovereign immunity" colleges and many government bureaucracies consider themselves free to infringe copyright and engage in other theft. The current case may lead to limits on such theft by bureaucrats.

This ruling is in direct opposition to a recent Federal Court ruling in Virginia where the concept of Fair Use was expanded to allow reproduction of copywritten works without compensation.

As explained in the article, the Virginia ruling is absolute idiocy and is not precedent or binding in any case, since it is not an appellate decision
