I use an Acratech GP Ballhead on a Gitzo G1127 Tripod-- The Acratech has leveling head capabilities -- Also tried it & it works

I too have a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod. Do you know how "Gitzo" is pronounced? Does the "i" sound like a long "e?"

That is an interesting question! For 40 plus years I've heard it pronounced to rhyme with "hit so". But what is the official way?

So does that mean you take your head off, level the tripod, and put the head back on for every time you shoot a pano sequence?

No I do not take the head off the tripod I put the circular level on the the base where the camera attaches to the head. On the one or two tripods I have that there is not enough room for the circular level I have a small hard wood base that I attach with the 1/4-20 screw that attaches the camera to the head. I made the base using a T nut that is 1/4-20 female nut that I picked up at the hardware store. This creates a flat base to set the level on and check for 360 degree level for the head. After it shows to be level I take that off and attach the camera where the base was and the camera is level and ready to shoot a pano sequence of 360 degrees if that is what I want. Hope this is makes sense to you.
