New comparison pics released for the P1000 directly compared to the older P900 camera. The P1000 comes in at about 3 pounds! This clearly is NOT a toy camera!

This is what you get when you cross a camera with a telescope. Bridge cameras before the P1000 are handy to take on vacations, almost unlimited zoom power and you don't have to change lens. But the sheer size of this P1000, almost puts it in the cumbersome category. Thanks for the visual comparison.

At $995 I hope not!

Excellent point, yet I'm sure the novelty will entice many - especially those who have $1000 to spend on a toy

Here's a video of the P1000 in action. I'ts a big camera but seems to do a lot. Probably considerably lighter than a dslr with a long lens as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RVXzak_tg4

So, we cannot refer to the P1000 as a POCKET CAMERA. Unless one has a BIG pocket.

Nice video from B & H. Info starting to slowly come in. Here is a comparison of the P900 & P1000 from B & H that may be of interest to current P900 owners.

this will be a great camera for events that they do not allow "professional" cameras, {ie. removable lenses} but i am sure they will black list these.

That is why I love my Nikon B700, terrific zoom and 1.2 pounds, about 1/3 smaller than the P900..

Now let's see if Apple puts this into an iPhone camera.
