I’m a Minnesotan born & bred with 4 years in the Navy (Pacific) under my belt; but after I retired, my Asawa & I went back to the Philippines for 3 years. My only regret was staying in the city and not getting out & about more. Yet, the people are friendly & LOVE to be photographed. After that, we moved to a lake house in Wisconsin & got a lot of great shots there. Now, We’re in North Carolina, & soon this adventure will begin.
I’ve been on UHH for about 19 months & do enjoy the variety. I look forward to a lot more in the future!

it's been many years since I was there, but a trip to the zoo (which is in Ashland, if I remember correctly) might be a good way to spend a day or two.

Thanks for the input! Iâve only played with my smartphone so far ... tooooo many things to do to settle into the new house!!! Maybe this fall Iâll be able to get back to my D700, once the garage is unpacked, the foundation is fixed ... the electrical ... the yard ... ... !!! ;-)
I do have a nice view to enjoy with my morning coffee though!

I am a native 'Tarheel', grew up in Gaston County. I have old pictures (slides) of the Zoo before there were buildings. Ther were only a few enclosures and animals. Have fun!

The trees are a “little” different than those in the Philippines, & it’s a lot more humid here. (Go figure!)
I here that the Biltmore has a Chihuly exhibit right now ... hopefully, I’ll be able to see it. If any of ya get the chance, you should check it out. I saw his work in OKC, & it’s fantastic!
