It is extremely hot, humid and rainy-not the best weather to be out in nature with the mosquitoes. This time of year I like to find a pretty plant that can be adopted and let it pose indoors before giving it a home in the garden. I have several varieties of ginger blooming now. The plants tend to be 2 to 3 feet tall. I recently found the little ginger that is the subject of these shots. It is a dwarf variety and the entire plant is only about 8 inches tall. I hope you enjoy these different approaches to the same plant.

Thank you, DNW! Black backgrounds are what I've worked with most of the time. The green was experimental. The black almost always gives dramatic results.

Very nicely done. I see ginger in the "wild," so to speak. I've never looked for it here. Don't you love how the blooms also bloom?

Have been trying to get that look many times without luck or skill. I like the flowers with some art effect starting with background. You did a stellar job!

Thank you, Mike! It is a pretty but bland little flower so I felt it needed a little pick-me-up.

Thank you, Kathy! I have several different varieties and I just recently planted a grocery store ginger root. It should grow but won’t have the beautiful blossoms that the fancy ones have. Their little flowers are so sweet as they peak out of the big bloom stalk.

Thank you Katy! Gingers thrive on hot humid weather so they are blooming better than most of my plants right now.

Thank you, Jim! I’m glad you enjoyed these. They all have a light touch of Topaz Studio to bring them to life.
