Got this one on a fishing trip at Lake Rathburn. Never seen a snake go for fish!

I assume that snake didn't get that size by being timid while hunting. I don't mean to be a jerk but I really wish the snake stole your fish. It would make this photo and your fishing story all the more better. Very cool post! Thanx for sharing it. Gary
That may be what's called a diamondback water snake. They are not venomous and a quick google search shows no moccasins in Iowa but I certainly wouldn't fight that snake for a fish, just in case.
Great shot. Did the snake let go or did you cut your line?
