May I suggest that you invest about $ 100 (you just missed a nice sale) into Laura Shoe's Lightroom DVDs. I went this root and learned quite a bit. I would STRONGLY suggest that, before you begin really using Lr, that you completely understand the why, what and how of it's organizational capabilities. Accomplishing just that will save you endless time later. Best of luck.

OMG $100? Laura has a free version that covers most of it. It is very good. And one of the big advantages of using Adobe products, is the community support. Lots of good free info. Many resources.

It's worth every penny considering the organisation and content. You'll be up a running quickly without searching all over. Best money you'll ever spend learning how to use Lightroom properly. IMHO.

I know she is very good and I am sure it is worth the price.

I had considerable experience with other editing tools before I came to the Adobe family. And I am very happy with Adobe now thank you very much.

My comments about the quality of training were meant for the op.

I am agreeing with you but apparently doing a bad job showing my support. Sorry.

Thanks to all for your expert and much appreciated advice. Now I must get this sorted out and at least my field of action is narrowed to the point of practicality. Thanks again
