When I was on the Galapagos, I found lots of pelis to shoot! I enjoy them because they can be regal, funny, agile, awkward, and sometimes all of the above at once! So here are some of my favorite pelican shots from the Galapagos.

Excellent captures, Kathy! The frigate bird must be a politician.

Thanks, Mike. One would wonder. Actually, it was explained to us that frigates lack the insulating material on their feathers that allow them to dive. So they wait for other birds to do the diving, and they try to steal the catch.

Nice shots.

I love Pelicans too, luckily I don't have far to travel to find them, there are several oyster bars near the house where they roost during the evening. They come back to them all throughout the day.

Thanks for looking. I think they hang out anywhere that smells fishy. Not too many of those in the desert.

I'll bet. Do they become nuisances?

They can become a problem for fishermen using live baits, I have seen them hooked, not a pretty thing to see, then there is the poop... But all and all, we are blessed to have them here.

Fun shots, Kathy. Over the years I have spent quite a bit of time watching and photographing Pelicans and I agree, they are characters!
