I just found "A Beginner's Guide" for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ 1000. It's by Jacob Gleam and it's available at Barnes and Noble and ebay. Hope this helps those of you, who like me were looking for a guide for this camera.

If only I could find one for the zs60. Sending it back. I'm sure its a great camera,....but bought for a 'point-n-shoot', don't have time to try to figure out the menu for the simplest features....whilst missing the shot! I had hoped,...but its just too difficult.

Does your FZ1000 make a noise whenever it's on? You have to listen in a quiet area. I received a second one yesterday after returning a different one a few days ago.
I went online to find that it's a common if not a universal problem. I'll be returning this one too. I'm 70 yrs. old and have had a couple of dozen cameras in my life and none of them sounded like this. I had Lumix point and shoot for years. It was my favorite backup. I was quite excited when I received this one yesterday. It was a refurb
on ebay. For $495 it came with everything with the exception of the original box (which aren't included with refurbs). Maybe it's my mild OCD but I just can't keep it because of the noise. Anyone else with this observation ?

I'm 91 and have the FZ1000. Can't hear a thing from it, even when I hold it right up to my hearing aid!

I hear a mild chattering sound as the lens is extended while powering up. Is this the sound to which you refer?

No, it's constant. It's always going.

I have kept mine, even though the manual is not useful. I'm sure someone thought it was "intuitive" they were probably NOT a photographer. No index is the major beef. Easier to experiment than to find it in the manual. I don't know about others, but I use the manuals as a reference. NEED an index.

There is an advanced manual online which may be helpful.

Regarding the noise, I can hear a low noise when I put my ear next to it, but it has never bothered me. I don't hear it otherwise.

Also, Graham Houghton has some very good YouTube tutorials.

I looked on Amazon. Here is one. If the link below doesn't work, it's titled: Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS60: A Guide for Beginners. It's by Scott Casterson.

Thanks, but I think this is the one that I bought from Barnes and Noble. Not very helpful. Is mostly a recap of the Panasonic manual, but more basic. . Found the online one will search for particular words, but need to know what terminology Panasonic uses to know what words to use.

I did figure out a few things on the zs60. Going to keep it at least a few more days and see if it'll work for me. I like the size/feel of this camera and so want to keep it,...but have to be able to figure it out,...without a computer and guide to look thru! It came with absolutely no guide/paperwork. Thanks to all for your replies and help,...and by all means,...let me know any more ideas if you have them!!!

You can get both the basic and advanced manual online from Panasonic. The site is listed in the paper quick start guide. There is no charge. It is just not organized very well.

After deciding to keep my Lumix zs60, I've decided to order a printed guide/manual. I really want to like this camera, and hope this helps out. Meanwhile, I saw a Canon sx720 on sale, so had to buy it! 40x zoom and a menu I am familiar with! LOL. They are almost identical in size/weight. Thnx to all you folks with your helpful comments.
