While in Los Galapagos, I happened on a pair of Blue-Footed Boobies with sufficient time to watch them in action. One was on the nest and the other standing on a rock. After awhile, the one on the rock got down and walked over to the one on the nest, booted her (him?) off, and started sitting on the nest. The one booted off went over to the rock, turned and said something to the partner and flew away. It all happened in the matter of minutes. I felt quite honored to see this interchange - and to have a camera good enough to record it. Shot with 5D Mk 3, Tamron 28-300, at 300 (I think).
This was a series of 91 frames shot in just a few minutes. I watched the second one fly past me, around the spit and off into the great beyond.
Scene 1: The curtain opens with one on the nest and the other standing on a rock.

Thank you, Angela. When I got home, the first thing I did was to look at these on the computer to see if the blue feet showed up. I was so glad they did!

Thanks, MT. It was a thrill. I had a list of animals I wanted to see, and they were at the top of it. They were the opposite direction from where most of the group was going, so I was undisturbed.

Thank you, Greg. It makes a whole lot more sense when one knows what is happening!
