The animals on the Galapagos are sort of strange. Most are similar to, but not the same as animals in other parts of the planet. One of the interesting things is that they have basically no fear of humans, so one can get quite close. The law says there's a 2-meter limit, but sometimes the animals forget that law!
The tortugas are perhaps the most famous. They live a VERY long time. The babies are being raised in captivity because they're meat to other animals. So to keep them alive, they're kept in captivity until too large to be game and then released. These tortugas are really HUGE.
