Just so we're talking about the same thing - I'm talking about the AI clear PRO that is selling for about $60 and is then added into Topaz Studio. I am not talking about the AI Clear that comes with Topaz Studio. I should have been clearer on that point and if anyone Googled "Topaz Studio AI clear" they would be taken to the program I am talking about. I'm pretty sure you can get the PRO version on a trial basis; give it a try and let us know your opinion.

Yes, AI Clear pro can be trialed in Studio. I activated the trial and performed my tests.

Unless buying the program actually adds more then activating the pro trial.

Close. It is a model and it is flying. I added the sky/clouds ... for realism; I felt this model really deserved it.

If you can add a sky and clouds, why don't you add a pilot?

Yes it is a model. A foam model; radio control!

AI Clear, while not solely for noise reduction, will do noise reduction, sharpening, detail enhancement along with suppressing artifacts. Reduce Noise is the Studio plugin that targets noise though, you might want to give it a trial - it might not be quite a powerful tool as Denoise 6 is, but it will appeal to some for the one click approach, although I will make use of Denoise 6 with ISO presets for my 80D that get me in at least in the ballpark with 1 click.

FWIW - I think Topaz makes some great plugins myself and I have the Photoshop Bundle.

BTW - Topaz Studio is FREE, it comes with 10 basic adjustments, and you can add additional adjustments (pro) for a cost. As older Topaz Plugins are upgraded to run within Studio they will become available as "in studio" versions. All of the Topaz plugins you currently own either become "in studio" based on your licensing, or will be available under the plugin menu.

Based on a quick off the cuff non scientific comparision I did with a noisy 25,600 ISO shot, Photoshop NR was not acceptable, Topaz AI Clear was better, but not great, Topaz Reduce Noise was better than AI Clear, and Topaz Denoise 6 was much much better.

If you can upload the raw image somewhere and give me a link I'll show you what the DXO Prime noise reduction in DXO PhotoLab Elite can do. Its quite impressive.

Topaz Denoise 6 does a pretty good job with some fiddling.

That is a very interesting question! First, I hadn't thought of it. Now that you have brought
it up ...

It must be me not being able to tell specifically where the noise is in the before picture. When downloaded, the only difference I could ascertain seemed to be a little more muted color in the after picture. For my education, what do I look for when trying to determine if there is noise in a picture. I have seen some instances of circles and white specs but I guess I really don't know for sure what I should see and recognize it as noise. Constructive suggestions appreciated.

I have been interested in this program as I also own Topaz Studio, so first, thanks for sharing your experience. I looked at both photos and I can see the noise in the fuselage in the original. In the after version I don't see much reduction in that noise but I do see evidence of sharpening which emphasizes the flaws in the model's silver surface. Personally, I prefer the original. May I ask why you shot this image at such a high ISO?

Best,
Bob

Topaz has just come out with a new adjustment to clean up noise. I have several programs now that do
a reasonable job but this new one by Topaz has really impressed me - I already owned Topas Studio
(I believe you must own Topaz Studio but it would be worth checking this) so I bought it. My very first
photo is posted ... Before & After
There is a Detail Boost option which I set to low (there is a high). There are sliders for adjusting the
percentage of adjustment of both the noise reduction and the Detail Boost. I have no financial or any
connection what so ever with the company; I am just letting Hogs know about what I consider
to be a good product. Hey, I loved their Remask too.

I did notice that his "after" shot had significantly more noticeable artifacts, especially in the tail stabilizer, than the original. If you look at both images at hi magnification it becomes very clear. Additionally the white halo artifacts around the lettering is more evident in the "after" image. While it is not very evident when viewing the entire image in a small size, if you were to crop the image and view the resulting image full screen, those artifacts would become very obvious. There is some small amount of noise reduction, although the original didn't have that much noise to start with. What it seems to be doing more than noise reduction is sharpening. I was not particularly impressed by the "after" image.

Yes, exactly. I completely agree. I see artifacts, especially on the tail stabilizer, and increased halo size around the lettering. Even the original has some halos around the lettering and other sharp edges, probably from over sharpening.

It was a mistake. I should have used something around 200.

I have Studio and Denoise. Is it worth it to buy AI? Couldn't I just run Denoise and then send it to Studio as I normally do? Or is AI a superior product? Thanks.

I have tried the Topaz AI Clear and found it very useful if you want to process 10-20 images at a shot. You can easily remove noise and sharpen the image with a click. I do this first on the RAW image files and then move it to Lightroom for rest of the edits. It helped me to save some time. I am sharing the tutorial and some of my test pictures at different ISOs,

Hope this helps.
