I'm in the process of editing about 5000 pics from a recent trip. There were lots of locations and I want to make certain that the location information on each file is correct. I've uploaded all of the images into one library. I selected a group of images and then typed in the location. When I pressed "enter," I got a pop-up screen that asked if I wanted to apply that to all selected. I said yes. This worked about 4 times. Then it quit. Now when I select a group, it applies the information entered to the first selected image ONLY and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to do what I want. HELP!

I know some smart person out there knows how to do this!

I'm using LR 6.13.

As a point of clarity, are you working in the Map module, entering GPS location, or adding the location as a Keyword?

You need to be in group display (type "G" on the keyboard), rather than library display (type "E" on the keyboard). In other words, if you see one image in the main screen, than that's the one that will be updated. If you see many images, then all will be updated.

Neither. I'm entering the location on the "sublocation" slot, then the city, province, etc.

I was in the "grid" view. I used "shift" and selected all of the images I wanted to change. They were all shown as selected. As I said, it worked several times, then quit. It is SO tedius to type in that info for EACH image when I have 10-15 that are all in the same location and should be able to type it in once and apply it to all the selected images.

Quit LR and restart.

I'll try that tomorrow. I've been continuing with the actual editing, as I can go back and do the info stuff later. Thanks.

Try using the Sync Metadata button in the Library module. And, where are you entering the location information? As a label, keyword or GPS coordinates?

I'm not wanting ALL of the metadata the same, just the locations. I'm entering it in the appropriate boxes on the right-hand side column. I know I could make separate metadata for each group and apply it. But I already have thousands of metadatas and entering two or three words is a lot faster.

You don't have to sync all the Metadata. The Sync Metadata button that rgrenaderphoto mentioned allows very specific selection of the data to be copied to all selected images. Location data can be input under the "IPTC Image" heading - just scroll down in the dialog box.

Thanks, Lsimpkins. I'll take a look at that.

Instead, assuming you are using LR CC Classic, highlight the pictures you want to apply the metadata changes to and click on the "Sync Metadata" box at the lower right corner of the Library screen.

OK, a question about doing that. So do I fill in the info I want on the first one of the group, THEN sync? Or do I fill it in after hitting the sync?
