I live in a very rural area of California. The gold miners came here in droves during the 1800’s... so there is a lot of history here... and a lot of abandoned old buildings, which often prove fantastic for photography subjects.

I normally carry at least one of my cameras with me at all times. In the rare case that I don’t, I rely on my iPhone 6s Plus, which has a rear camera at 12 MP.

The shot below was taken with my iPhone. This old building sits on the edge of the Mokelumne River near Electra Road in Jackson, CA. It was misty out, and this abandoned building looked so beautiful nestled in the hillside.

Very nicely done, you have a great eye. Thanks for sharing.

Your story does bring up an issue though. I also find myself capturing such "finds" with my iphone. Yet ten years ago I would have used an extra camera I'd keep in my car. Has phone photo technology eliminated the need for that "glove compartment camera"? And does it matter to anyone other than the camera manufacturers?
