I'm wondering if any other D500 owners we're not notified about the update yet. Maybe they do it in batches?

Same here. Yet my camera is registered with Nikon. I think I’ll give them a call, not that this particular update seems like such a big deal. Thanks for responding.

You don’t need an official invite to do an update. They are all shown on the Nikon web site. You just find your model and compare their latest release number to what is in your camera.

I updated my Nikon Df twice already and I never got any notification from Nikon and I did register my camera to Nikon.

Through the D70, D200, D300 and D3, D80, D810 and now D850 I have as yet to receive any notification form Nikon about a firmware upgrade

If you have the Nikon Message Center on your computer you will also get a notification. I also received An email for a D7500 firmware update.

I got notified about an update for my D750 last week, but I haven't heard anything about an update for my D500 yet...

I heard the update on the D500 is only about your location and date and time. No big thing.

Same here, D70, D70s, D200, D7000, D7100, D500, never gotten an email, and every one is/was registered.
Now, I feel slighted to hear that others get notifications. I'm moving to Canon. (Just kidding)
