Playing around with my post-processing software.
Started to experiment with my post-processing software and came up with this image. Let me know what you think and please be honest as this is how I get better. Thanks.
I will be honest and I'm not trying to bash you but I don't see the point. The background is distracting and the bird seems to be slightly out of focus.
Just not sure what you are trying to accomplish.
As is often the case with manipulated images, it might be interesting to see the original to gauge where you started and how you got to where you arrived. As posted, the background grossly overpowers the subject, and the subject --the bird-- doesn't appear to have shadow areas or subtlety in feather detail so much as it looks like a bird in need of a bath. Post processing can go a long way in upping an image's appeal in one way or another, and it can just as quickly go in the opposite direction. Keep experimenting; boxes were made to be gotten out of. You'll know when you've arrived at your destination.
One way to help get ideas when you're experimenting is to post the original photo and ask others to do an interpretation and add to the thread. You could mention upfront what interested you about your own version, or just leave the floor open. You might end up with cool ideas to expand upon or notes for future. If you decide to do this, I sugges the post processing forum.
It's way over-processed. The background and the main subject are both horrid. No offense. I have done the same many times while experimenting with images to see what I can come up with. There is no shame in that. This one just doesn't work. Thousands of mine didn't either. Keep at it.
Thanks, will keep trying.

Once again, Linda, you gave an insightful comment. You're dead on!
