The subject line says it all. Has anyone else had the problem? Is there a work around?

I receive an error message that the image failed to open, then NIK closes down and PSE 14 closes down! At least I still have my RAW update so I don't have to start all my work from scratch.

Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

That happens a lot with plug ins to Adobe products.

I have a similar but more serous problem (at leas to me). I can no longer save a file in PE14 after the update not enough RAM to save file.. I removed PE 14 and reinstalled it. Same problem. I then rolled bck ti update. uninstalled and reinstalled PE14. PE14 worked fine.

The next morning after turning on my laptop MS was kind enough to reinstall the update for me. PE14 does not work same problem not enough RAM.

Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem with my iMac after an OS update. The program, Photoshop CC would close down using Nik. The solution I found was to go to the DxO website, bear in mind they now own Nik and are in the process of updating it. On the site you can get a link and download the Nik software from them. Having done this I have no problems with using the Nik software. I did read initially, all sorts of solutions, involving deleting this that and the other and moving files manually. No need, give it a try.

Why do these "updates" promise the latest functions, but seem to mess up our computers? After my latest update, my password wouldn't work, and face recognition wouldn't recognize me. Had to go to settings and remake my identity!

Windows did NOT change your password, nor did Windows Hello forget what you look like. YOU did something that caused those things. If Windows update did that there would be MILLIONS of reports of it all over the internet, and at least a few of the THOUSANDS of workstations that I manage would have experienced the same issues.

Thoughts? Windows update did NOT remove RAM from your computer. You do win the prize for the most utterly ridiculous case of blaming Windows for something that it is PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of doing that I have heard in many years!

I, also, am having that problem -- in addition to NIK not working. PSE14 has slowed down to less than a snail's pace! It's all happened since the WIN10 update.

I had a similar problem with my iMac after an OS u... (show quote)

did it and no improvement == meaning, NIK doesn't work; I can't save my work (not enough RAM -- funny, I had enough before the update!).

I DID NOT, REPEAT DID NOT, change any settings when Windows 10 updated. Before the update PSE14 worked like a charm; NIK worked, I could do edits; I could save my completed work. Like the poster whom you attempt to ridicule, I now receive the message that I cannot edit, I cannot save files, NIK does not work, because I do not have enough RAM. Windows update may not have removed RAM from our computers, but it sure did something to mess them up. I DID NOT, REPEAT DID NOT, change any settings in Windows. So, before accusing people of making "the most utterly ridiculous case of blaming Windows for something that is PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of doing," think again, because Windows tells us that we do NOT have enough RAM to do the jobs we need it to do. And all of this happened AFTER the latest update!

You have to remember that Windows uses both physical RAM (memory chips)and Virtual RAM (Hard Drive space). You might want to check you physical hard drive space available. Open Windows Explorer and right click on the hard drive in question C:, D: etc. and then click on properties. That will tell you used and available space on that drive. If the drive space is low you can then go to the web page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026616/windows-10-disk-cleanup and follow the instructions to clean up the hard drive. You can do this for any physical drive on the PC. The other step would be go to your favorite computer shop and buy additional memory chips to increase the physical memory on the PC. Memory is cheap and usually fixes a myriad of issues in Windows.

The other place to look is in the control panel under the System icon and then then the Advanced tab click on the Settings button and then again on the Advanced Tab. You can adjust the amount of drive space that is assigned to the system by clicking on the Change Button. Most of the time Windows does a good job of assigning the proper amount of virtual memory but if your drive was low on space it sometimes does not adjust back after cleaning up the drive.

Another place to look is to start Task Manager right click on the toolbar and find "Task Manager". Once you get there click on the startup tab and see what processes are running. Usually you can find 2 or 3 processes using up memory and you do not need them running all of the time. Things like "Apple Push", "Java Update Scheduler" and such can be launched manually by you and therefore disable them so they are not running in background constantly.
