Be sure to include the one mile long incline rail on the southwest side of town.

It has been a while since I have been to Chattanooga. Riding around Mission Ridge provided a time step back to the 1940s.

It is on Lookout Mountain.

Chattanooga is a great place to anchor a week's stop. There are several different photo opportunities besides the railroad themes. (And there are plenty of those.) Cloudland Canyon (GA), Chickamauga Battlefield (GA), Lookout Mtn Hang Gliding (GA), Rock City (TN), Ruby Falls (TN), Ross's Landing (Trail of Tears), Tennessee River (TN), even an Aquarium. (Sadly, the Dragon museum is no more.) There are so many other places. Almost forgot the TVA dam.

The railroad comes around Lookout Mountain near an entry point to a cave that has historical material going back to before the 1770s. Don't know if it is accessible to the general public. But definitely interesting to read about it.

And there are working trains galore.

Not to mention the flying saucer house north of Chattanooga!
