I'm trying to work this into a routine, I do not do this, but feel I really need to start!

I rarely chimp but I have my camera set up to show the histogram... so if that counts as chimping... throw me a bannana! I download and view my digital images shortly after returning from my shoot... film is different as it may take me months to go through a roll, but i generally process it very quickly.

A. I look every few shots. Download after each session. I missed a good shot the other day by not chimping. I was in shutter priority talking shots at a golf tourney. When we went inside for results and prizes I took pix of the winners but forgot to change the settings. Super dark. But I shot in RAW and was able to at least save the day.

I'm involved in a discussion with another film shooter and while discussing the availability of reviewing shots in real time he said that he NEVER DOES. He said that he might go a month before even LOOKING at the images. He never chimps, never checks or reviews, never goes home and downloads the images into Lightroom or whatever post processing software.

I said that that's very unusual so here I am asking you 'hogs...what do you do? Answer by adding the alphabet letter that most closely matches your answer;

A.
I chimp shots at least SOME of the time, OR I take the card out of the camera when I get home or within one day and review images.

B.
I NEVER chimp EVER NOR do I REVIEW images until well AFTER the shoot date...like AT LEAST A FEW WEEKS LATER IF NOT MONTHS LATER.

Here we go!
I'm involved in a discussion with another film sho... (show quote)

As I take photos for the real estate finance process, which has me at diverse locations on a regular basis, I review all of my images before leaving the location. I guess that puts me in category A!

Looking at the resultant image on the LCD after capturing it.

Why not chimp? Take advantage of the instant gratification by tweaking a good photograph into an EXCELENT one!!! I constantly chimp before I even start shooting and even have a formula for which direction the sun is in my shot

A. BUT -what is it you are looking at? I almost never look at the image but rather I have my display setup to show me the RGB Histograms. That is something I care to look at to see if I need to use EV to make corrections. I guess I feel that, I know what the image looks like as I pointed the camera at it.

Have you never gotten a shot of someone with their eyes closed? That isn't what it looked like when you pointed the camera at them. Same thing for bad expressions.

I'm new here, so bare with me. With regard to reviewing shots. The conversation started with "film" shooting. How do you review in real time. Isn't the image an unprocessed negative in the camera??? Nikon shooter since the very first Nikon hit the market & every upgrade since. Press credentialed via Kennedy International News Service in 1960's Hobbyist since then. Ed

A. However using a mirror less electronic view finder with the histogram displayed I chimp a lot less.

Also, because I have a specific list of required images,and I am sometimes forgetful (possibly age related -73), I review to make sure that I have what I need (both clarity and subject )! This eliminates costly and time consuming return trips.
