Keep practicing, you might try getting in closer or cropping closer to the birds like you did in #1.

#3 is a great blue heron. #2 is highly engaging IMO for its artistry and unique perspective. Don't you dare crop that one

Thanks Linda, I have a similar one with the wings in a different position I like about as much :)
I thought that was a heron, but there are several the same size at this pond so I thought maybe they were some other species.

Absolutely true! Normally backside pictures are not very appealing, but the setting, reflection and symmetry of this picture is unique and good.

If it is the same or a similar bird as #1 it is a Snowy Egret - the partial yellow bill indicates a young bird, adults have a black bill. If you got a look at the feet they should have been yellow - "golden slippers" is the term many use.
