Coast shot with issues.
Hi. I was browsing through some old raw files and came across this one that I'd not got round to editing. As you can see it's got some issues (blown sky, lens flare) so I went with a different shot that needed less work. However, I suspect that this one has some potential, so I'm putting it up for editing. If you want to go beyond fixing the issues, feel free to edit in whatever way you think will work well.

PS - I'll be offline till tomorrow.

Has the canvas stretched to the left and upward for what I think makes a slightly better composition. Blown out sky replaced with clouds; flare removed. Changed to Black and White. Some dodging on the breaking waves and foam on water and some light burning around the edges.

Decided to make an attempt. I know it is probably not exactly what you saw when you took the shot but hope you like the look of this.

Good job on fixing the issues and bringing out the atmosphere of the place. I did a B&W version of a similar shot, and like you I found that the spray/haze responded well to enhancements.

Thanks for joining in, MCHUGH. Making your own assessments is what threads like this are all about. I took the shot as the day neared its end, and your adjustments have emphasised that.

Thanks for contributing, Bill. You did a fine job of holding on to the softness while pushing the editing.
Had a good time but couldn't tone the bright sun down.

Glad you could join us, SHG. In a sky as dramatic as that, a bit of intensity doesn't look out of place. Glad you enjoyed.

Neat image to work with. I live nowhere near scenes such as this. Fun times.

Glad you enjoyed, Bruce. Editing is most fun when you end up with something of interest.

Thank you Lloyd. So many ways to add drama....
(Whether you approve or disapprove of profiles, presets or filters, they're a good source of ideas that we mightn't necessarily have tried ourselves).
