Does anyone know if there's a wireless remote available that would work with the 6D Mk II? I know you can use a cell phone as a remote but I'm just looking for one of those tiny, almost weightless remotes that Canon makes for other digital cameras. Can't seem to find much relevant information.
yes called r6 i think it works on canons
chuck
DebAnn,
I use my phone because it goes WAY beyond a remote shutter. You can essentially duplicate your touch screen and even move focus Points. A portable Live View. It is a battery hog for BOTH devices. And i getcha the little gadget is nice and easy and light.
But I suggest trying the phone thing first to see how you like ti.

Thanks Craig. In the Instruction Manual, Canon cautions users that they are not responsible for any issues connected to using the phone with the camera. Do you think there'd be any foreseeable problems?
I have two. Canon RC-6. They have worked with 5 different bodies so far: T2i, 5DIV, 6D & 7DII.
Just looked it up. 6DII uses the BR-E1 from Canon.

Get the Vello FreeWave wireless remote. They work great and get about a year on a set of batteries, and has a 200+ ft range.
Canon site says this one fits:
EOS Rebel T7i
EOS 77D
Can you send a link to your info for 6D Mk II.
Thanks

I have the 6D II and the phone app. It works well as Photocraig noted above. I also have a Canon RS-80N3 "Remote Switch." it too works well but it does have a short length of only 33 inches. I just finished a set of photos on a high end china cabinet with beveled and caned glass doors. The reflections were giving us fits so I opted to photograph it in a very dark room with black light-blocking panels to limit both extraneous light and attendant reflections. I set the camera on a tripod, attached the RS-80 and fired up the phone app. I then stepped out of the dark room and controlled the camera from another room. It was very convenient and fun getting the results I needed. My money shot was f4 @ 20 seconds, ISO 100. By using the phone app I had zero chance of inducing vibration from either brushing against the tripod, walking on the floor or movement of the mirror as I had it set on live view. I am very pleased with the results.
Interesting - I'm glad you figured out a way to get the photo you want. What I'm looking for is a wireless switch. The ones with a cord are a bit of a pain.

Vello FreeWave-available on Ebay, or B&H
Canon makes a great remote called br e1 it works on blue tooth so you dont have to use line of sight. You can take photos from any direction even from next room.
Yes, someone else suggested that one, but on Canon's site, the 6D Mk II is not one of the listed compatible cameras.
