Needing a Bridge camera to photo nature(birds, scenery). Which SLR-like (bridge) would you suggest and why?

Needing a Bridge camera to photo nature(birds, scenery)... Years (more than 20+) I used to do lots of photography, then I injuries, family, life got in the way. I want to start taking pics again but can't carry a heavy camera and don't want the small digital camera which doesn't do justice to my photos. Also not wanting to spend lots of money. I also don't like the lag times of many of these small/bridge cameras.
So looking for a good, responsive, SLR-like bridge camera...Oh, did I mention, it needs to run on AA or AAA batteries. I love taking pictures and will be nowhere near electrical sources except batteries.
Good range - zoom
not more than 1.5 lbs
AA or AAA batteries
short lag time for a picture and between pictures.
Suggestions are most welcomed. Thank you

Cameras using regular AA or AAA batteries are not common.

A small super zoom is the Canon SX50 which goes to an equivalent 1200mm focal length. The SX60 is newer, but many like the SX50 better.

The Nikon P900 is king when it comes to max reach offering an equivalence of 2000mm.

Panasonic makes nice super zooms too.

The common complaint about these cameras is the small sensor. But the reason they can zoom out so far is the small sensor.

In order to get a camera that operates on AA or AAA batteries, you would probably need to purchase an older, used camera. Some of the early bridge/superzooms, such as the Canon SX20, operate on AA batteries. All newer cameras that I know of, have a factory supplied rechargeable battery.

I recently bought a Sony RX10M4 - in some ways, particularly focusing accuracy and speed of acquisition and consistency of tracking - it exceeds the capability of my D810, and a D500 I used for a while. The lens is pretty spectacular, offering up a field of view range equal to 24-600mm F2.4 - F4. It's really not a bad camera at all.

I think you are going to find your battery requirement is a killer!! I would first recommend Nikon P900, but your weight requirement may throw out that option. Can I suggest either the Canon SX60 or the Nikon B700 and buy several after market batteries to keep with you?

Whatever you decide, enjoy your new camera and use it in good health!

If you are going to be off the electric grid they do sell some small solar chargers that will happily sit and charge while you are using another battery - just buy 2 or 3 aftermarket batteries and keep charging and rotating them.
