smoke filled sky at sunset

I was taking bird photos in the evening - early July. There were a number of wild fires at the end of June & first of July. As the sun started to set, it was obvious that all the smoke that had drifted up to our area was going to give a unique sunset.

It wasn't just the orangish color .... the clouds thru the setting sun made the sunset look like something from a Sci-Fi movie.

I have tried to do sunsets, but usually the foreground turns out bluish. You did a good job, I try to keep mine close to True-HDR, but still like this effect on some, and this is good. Thanks for posting and look forward to seeing more.

I am wondering what program you used? Your 3 photos have beautiful pink, peach and blue skies and yet the combination of the 3 is different shades of orange. Something doesn't seem right about the way the program merged the photos. I hope you don't mind me pointing that out.....

I didn't see that, but your right, i don't mind tho, i think it looks ok, and i don't mind, can't learn if things aren't pointed out to me. I used the HDR in the Canon DPP 3.11 software.

So glad you didn't take it the wrong way. I was just surprised how it pulled out the orange. Keep up the good work. I am still very new to HDR as well and got side tracked on tone mapping with single photos. But there is nothing as beautiful as true HDR!

I am so excited about this forum!!!!

I have no idea, how they came about, it was the results from the HDR software
