Are any of you using the Adobe CC photography plan? If so, how are you finding it? And, I know this is going to sound like a silly question, but can you still use all your plugins, ie. Topaz etc.? Also are you limited to using only the photos on your cloud storage? Many thanks in advance.

It's a great package and yes you can use all plugins that have been made to work with Photoshop and Lightroom. Enjoy.

Thank you for that. The other part of my question, about whether or not you're limited to only using the photos on your cloud storage, was prompted by the difference in price. It seems quite a high price to pay for what could easily be gained from a one-off purchase of an external hard drive.

Use it, love it, everything works, but you should check with your specific plugins, and I have no use for the cloud storage plan. $10/mo and I manage my own sharing with dropbox and backup/archiving with my own external drives.

The photography plan gets you Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic CC (desktop version) and Lightroom CC (the cloud only version).
Use LR Classic CC and it works just like the older LR CC and LR 6. Everything stays on your computer unless you choose otherwise.

Thank you. That's the plan I was looking at too. Although why it should be the same number of GBP as USD when the exchange rate is about £1 - $1.35, is beyond me.

Thank you. I thought I was beginning to understand. If I use the Lightroom CC (cloud version only), does everything still stay on my computer?

If you WANT everything to stay on your computer you use LR CC Classic. All your files remain local. No cloud required.

LR CC (cloud) and LR CC Classic (Local) are both included in the subscription plan. Just pick which mode you want to work in.

Once you get the plan, you have a choice between Lightroom CC, which is cloud based and Lightroom Classic CC, which is the LR you know and love.

Thank you. I really don't want to sound thick here but I suppose what I'm asking is, if I want to use LR CC (cloud), am I limited to working only on the files I have on my 20GB cloud storage? Would I have to keep moving files from my computer to the cloud in order to work with them and then back again in order to upload more when my 20GB limit is reached? It probably wouldn't be a problem, but I'd like to know what I'm letting myself in for in advance.

If you want to use you cellphone or a tablet etc, use Lightroom CC. If you plan to use lightroom on your PC use Lightroom CLASSIC CC

Thank you. I think that answers my question. I was thinking that LR CC would be like a more advanced version of LR Classic with more features. A bit like an upgrade but not available as an installable programme. Sorry to everyone if I hadn't worded my question particularly well. You've all been a great help. Thank you all.

This is a great way to obtain software for processing, always updated, often new things provided. I never use the cloud storage; I only use storage connected to my computer, external hard drives. You go directly from Lightroom into the plugin program, do the work, then the new image goes directly back into LR right beside the older image. Read the Lightroom help manual provided online prior to using the program.

It can be as simple as using one or the other. It can be much better and much more.

What is really happening is that Adobe is building a system of apps that work together across platforms. You can shoot with your DSLR, import images (and videos) into Lightroom Classic on your computer. With a 'syncing', those images will be viewable and editable on your tablet or phone. If you shoot something with your phone, it syncs to your computer for full use of all the Classic tools.

Included in the plan is Portfolio. It takes all of what you choose and displays it like a website with a personalized name. You can see mine if you use the link in my signature below. All the images are directly linked and controlled by Lightroom Classic on my computer through Lightroom CC as a conduit.

Want to make a print from an iPhone photo? With the syncing set up, images are on your computer for printing in seconds. Want a DSLR image on Instagram or Facebook? With syncing set up correctly, the image will go from card to computer to phone to Instagram/Facebook in a minute or two.

It takes some work. But with the imaging world being as complex as it is, the Adobe Photographers plan has the pieces and parts to get it done.

The integration of CC is great and now that they've leveled CC with Lightroom Classic (some sliders were not available initially in Classic...cheesy way to gain adoption). That said, I was on a job and CC fatally crashed on my relatively new, Windows 10, Surface Book. It crashed so badly that I had a team of Adobe Support working remotely on my PC for over 24 hours...meanwhile it delayed the delivery of my job (thank you my trusty and always reliable back-up...Raw Therapee).

Their service is great but the stability of the environment is still in question. The ease of moving between Lr and Ps is fantastic. I'd like to see them get better rendering speeds for culling (ala Photo Mechanic) but they have improved rendering speeds for RAW in Lr. Hopefully Adobe begins to use the power of the computer to improve performance as well....as right now Adobe performance is not improved by a faster computer (tested and confirmed with a good sample of professional photographers).

If you're looking for proven applications and are on a budget (and are not married to Adobe), consider GIMP and Raw Therapee...they are open source, free and supported by a fantastic community. They are my go-to back-up when Adobe crashes (it happens more than you -- or they would like you to -- think).
